Michael S. Bare, Sr., a 26-year veteran of the
transportation industry, has been named president and chief executive
officer of the Shevell Group of transportation companies. Consisting
of real estate, trucking and logistics companies, the Shevell Group
includes New England Motor Freight (NEMF), Carrier Industries, Eastern
Freight Ways, Apex Logistics, New England World Transport and NEMF of
Canada.
He comes to the Shevell Group from Con-Way Central Express (CCX), where he was vice president - sales. He joined CCX in 1984 shortly after its start-up and rapidly advanced through increasing levels of responsibility as an account executive, service center manager, and regional manager.
Bare was instrumental in CCX's Midwest expansion and in revitalizing a Con-Way presence in the Northeast. He was responsible for the business plan, start-up, and leadership of Con-Way Logistics, an "asset-light", third-party logistics provider.
Bare earned a transportation degree at the University of Akron before beginning his career at United Parcel Service in 1977. He moved to a sales position at Keen Transportation in 1978 and to Motor Freight Express as a district manager in 1979. In 1982, he joined Yellow Freight as a sales representative.

Bare and his wife of 27 years, Karla, will be relocating to New Jersey from the Midwest.
