Boston Globe president Mary Jacobus has announced the
appointment of two new advertising vice presidents and made other key
changes in the newspaper's advertising and marketing departments aimed
at better serving the needs of our customers.
Peter Ockerbloom, who previously held the position of Retail Advertising Director, becomes Vice President of Advertising, Retail and National. Timothy J. Murphy, who has been Executive Director, Advertising Marketing, becomes Vice President of Advertising, Marketing and Sales. Both appointments were effective April 3, 2006.
Mr. Ockerbloom and Mr. Murphy will work alongside Advertising Vice President Lisa DeSisto who will continue to have responsibility for classified sales and business development and will assume additional responsibilities for online sales at Boston.com, the Globe's website. Ms. DeSisto's title will change to Vice President of Advertising, Classified and Online Sales to reflect her new duties.
Mr. Ockerbloom is a 13-year veteran of the Globe and held a number of sales and management positions before assuming his new duties. He received a B.A. in Communications from the University of New Hampshire. He resides in Reading with his wife and two daughters. He is 37.
Mr. Murphy, 36, joined the New York Times Company in 2000 as Vice President of Business Operations at Abuzz, an Internet service that had been acquired by the Times Company. He later worked at BostonWorks, the Globe's recruitment division. He is a graduate of Hamilton College and resides in Milton.
Ms. Jacobus also announced the promotion of Richard Masotta to the position of Executive Director, Advertising Operations, recognizing his accomplishments in managing the systems and support structure in the advertising department.
A 33-year veteran of the Globe, Mr. Masotta, 51, has held a variety of positions in the Globe's advertising department and specializes in operations and workflow development. He is a graduate of Boston College with a B.A. in Business Management. He lives in Cohasset with his wife and two children.

"I look forward to working with each of these senior executives as they transform our business into one of multiple platforms offering a variety of solutions to our advertising customers."
