U.S. Department of Commerce Recognizes Mannatech for Its Successful Entry Into Various International Markets

COPPELL, Texas, April 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The U.S. Department of Commerce has recognized global health and wellness leader Mannatech, Incorporated , for its successful entry into the international marketplace.

The federal agency recently presented Mannatech with an Export Achievement Certificate. The certificate is awarded to small-to-medium-size enterprises and organizations that have entered the international marketplace for the first time or that have successfully entered a new market.

Mannatech now sells its products in nine countries outside the United States. Within the last 18 months alone, the company has begun selling its products in four new countries -- South Korea, Taiwan, Denmark and Germany.

"Mannatech has made enormous inroads in its international outreach in a relatively short time," said John Price, president of the company's International Operations. "And it won't end there. Mannatech is investing heavily in Web automation, global supply-chain flexibility and a complete re- architecture of its IT systems to prepare for additional aggressive international expansion."

Founded in 1993, Mannatech is a leading wellness company and a pioneer in the field of glyconutritional research and development. The company announced a ground-breaking formulation in 1996 of a nutritional supplement comprised of a unique blend of plant-based sugars, which are also known as glyconutrients ('glyco' is the Greek word for 'sweet').

Medical research acknowledges that eight glyconutrient sugars are needed at the cellular level for optimum immune system function. Considering that six of these glyconutrients are often lacking in modern diets, Mannatech sought new and better sources of the nutrients. The effort culminated in the Ambrotose complex. Twenty patents -- including one from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office -- have been issued to Mannatech for technology related to the Ambrotose complex formulation.

Today Mannatech has more than two dozen glyconutritional products for adults and children that address health and nutrition, sports performance, weight management and skin care.
