LAS VEGAS, April 23, NAB Booth SL4944 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SANYO has developed a LCD projector network management solution that even complex customers (such as electronic cinema installations) can use -- the PJ Master. This new software works with either Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine together with a PJ Net Organizer board or box installed in or attached to each projector or plasma monitor to be controlled and managed. Once installed, a single PJ Master, POA-PJNM01 can manage and control, through a secure internet or intranet connection, up to 15,000 individual projectors or plasma monitors in any configuration with up to 100 sets maximum per node. The PJ Master software operates together with the SQL Database software to register all of the projector and plasma unit information into a database and then update and display the status on the PJ Master display as well as control each and every device. The PJ Master enables administrative users to quickly manage their own maintenance and operation functions without waiting for any outside assistance.
The PJ Master allows the administrator to centrally, virtually manage any "target" projector's or plasma monitor's operation condition and to control those targets with serial commands via the network. In addition, the PJ Master can update each target's firmware or the firmware on the target's network board or attachment box as well as update any lower level server node's PJ Master software. Once the PJ Master software has been installed and initialized, the administrator can select either a "Tree View" window or a Status List window. The Tree View window shows a graphical, tree structure of all the attached target servers and devices on the network. The Status List window shows the operating status or automatic warning for each server, projector or plasma monitor on the network. The information shown in the Status window is automatically updated and logged at a pre-determined time interval.
The Status window shows status and alert information as well as system settings such as encryption, temperature units, warning announcement (sound or visual alarms), IP addresses, etc. Warnings can be set for various internal temperature trip points as well as for overall use time and other conditions. In addition to various semi-real time displays of operational information, different event and error logs can be established and monitored for each projector or device on the network. Some of the many types of information that can be monitored for each target include lamp status, lamp time, internal temperature, input signal status, input mode and total accumulated use time.
The PJ Master can also control each target projector or monitor on the network. Some of the many control signals (depending upon the type of target or PJ Net device) that are available are power on/off, volume up/down, device menu on/off, date and time settings, screen settings, fan speed settings, etc. These various settings can also be programmed for automatic operation after some pre-determined condition is reached and the settings themselves can be customized or edited as needed.
