Lockheed Martin Opens New Honolulu Facility

HONOLULU, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Martin executives and employees joined with Hawaii's political, business and military leaders in a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony to officially open a new 31,000 square foot campus adjacent Honolulu Airport.

The new facility, atop Phase II of the Airport Industrial Park (AIPA), will provide a centralized location that will promote the execution and expansion of Lockheed Martin operations in Hawaii while bringing together various elements of the government contractor's business areas onto a single campus facility. Until now, Lockheed Martin maintained a large office in Kailua and operated smaller enterprises across Oahu, Kauai, and Maui, mostly providing on site program support to customers.

Terry Magee, vice president of advanced command, control and communication development and integration, Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems and Solutions, said, "Hawaii has traditionally played a critical role in our nation's defense and its importance is growing. Our move into this new facility expands our longstanding presence in Hawaii and deepens our commitment to national defense. Here we will consolidate our efforts and collaborate with each other and with our customers on the capabilities needed to keep our nation strong and free."

Congressman Neil Abercrombie noted, "Lockheed Martin's new facility is good news for Hawaii. It signifies our state's growing importance as a center for military-related technology development. It means that as the Pacific becomes more important strategically, 21st century job opportunities will grow in tandem."

The new Lockheed Martin AIPA facility contains offices, high tech labs, and conference rooms, providing a collaborative environment for the corporation's businesses in Hawaii.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin employs about 135,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The corporation reported 2005 sales of $37.2 billion.
