Sharp is unveiling a new, easy-to-use electronic cash
register with enhanced capabilities that small retailers will
appreciate. The ER-A242 is the ideal solution for businesses that want
reliability along with fast, quiet thermal printing and easy
programming software for PC connectivity.
"Small business owners want an entry-level system that makes it easy to track business sales and produce reports," said Mike Porter, Associate Vice President and General Manager of the POS Division, Sharp Information Systems Group. "This cash register delivers a reliable and economical solution to help any entrepreneur efficiently manage day-to-day sales operations."
The cash register is simple to program and set up by utilizing easy programming PC software included. Business owners can upload price changes and generate periodic reports for tracking sales data, inventory, departments and the number of daily transactions. Just as easily, the data and reports can be viewed directly on the PC through the RS-232 port connection. For added security, an electronic journal allows the user to print a hard copy of past transactions to ensure that no records are lost. Additionally, receipts can be enhanced with images or logos imported from a PC using the graphic logo function.
For minimal maintenance and accessibility, the ER-A242 uses a high-speed drop-in thermal printer that is quieter than a standard printer, and doesn't require a messy ink ribbon. With a more consistent print quality, the ER-A242 can support graphics for customized receipts and reports. The single station 12 lps (lines per second) printer can print up to 24 characters per line and has a paper-end sensor to alert the user when the roll is finished.
The ER-A242 comes with a large, heavy-duty metal cash drawer with a five-compartment bill drawer and a five-compartment coin drawer. The unit has two large LED displays (operator and customer) as well as a raised keyboard with four automatic tax tables and three media types, including cash, check and charge.
The ER-A242 is available immediately for a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $379.00 through Sharp's authorized dealer network.
