Seaham in County Durham is the best performing seaside town in Great Britain over the past three years with average house prices up by 172% to GBP117, 266. House prices in the former mining town on the North Sea coast have also recorded the largest rise across all post towns in England and Wales over the past three years.
This is the fifth Halifax annual Seaside Town Review, tracking house price movements in 124 seaside towns in Great Britain. The review is based on Halifax's own extensive housing statistics database, along with data from the Land Registry and the General Registers of Scotland. Halifax is the UK's biggest mortgage lender and one of the country's largest estate agents.
