RESTON, Va., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Nextlink Wireless, a leading provider of broadband wireless services to mobile and wireline communications service providers, businesses and government agencies, today announced that Robert E. Beran has joined the company as chief executive officer. Beran also becomes a senior vice president at XO Holdings, Inc. and reports to Carl J. Grivner, CEO of XO Holdings, the parent company of Nextlink.

Beran has spent more than 20 years in the technology and telecommunications industries. He joins Nextlink from First Avenue Networks, where he was senior vice president of operations responsible for day-to-day operations of the company, including service delivery, network management, field services and customer care.

Before that, he held senior executive management positions with General Electric and Bell Atlantic/Verizon, where he developed and led several business units in telecom, Internet, video, wireless and publishing/information services sectors.
Beran received a Bachelors of Science in Business from Bucknell University and earned an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.
