ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ryder System, Inc. , a global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, has recognized Con-way Freight-Western (CWW) with its 2005 Ryder Carrier Quality Award.

The company, a regional less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and an operating company of Con-way Freight Inc., won the award for service in Ryder's Western Region category. Ryder's Transportation Management division selects carriers based on a quantitative scorecard that assesses several performance metrics including: on-time service, claims performance and resolution, customer service, technology, economic value and innovation.

Con-way's regional carriers have won six Carrier Quality Awards from Ryder since the award's inception in 1997: Con-way Freight-Western won in 2000, 2001 and this year's award for its region while Con-way Freight-Central won in 1999, 2001, and 2002.
Ryder management presented the award to Con-way executives at a ceremony in Novi, Mich. on Tuesday, June 6.
