The BP Community Scholarship awards ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. June 28 at Fordham Law School at 140 West 62nd Street in New York City.

A diverse group of students was selected to receive BP Community Scholarships for the 2006-2007 school year based on personal essays, academic performance, extra-curricular activities, work experience, individual goals and demonstrated financial need.

BP employees, dealers and jobbers in metropolitan New York began the community scholarship program in 1988 as a way to invest in the success of youth in the neighborhoods where they operate businesses. Now in its 18th year, the BP Community Scholarship Program has provided more than $2 million for 1,400 scholarships to promising area students who reside in New York City and on Long Island. Scholarship applications were offered to students online and at area BP stations.

BP's Community Scholarship Program operates in three major BP markets: New York, Washington, DC and Chicago. Since 1987, the program has provided more than $4 million for nearly 3,000 scholarships in these three markets. For a complete list of 2006 New York Scholarship recipients, see pages 2-3 below.

BP America views education as one of its key areas of focus for community investment. BP is the single global brand formed by the combination of the former British Petroleum, Amoco Corporation, Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) and Burmah Castrol. BP markets more than 15 billion gallons of gasoline every year to U.S. consumers through 14,000 retail outlets and supplies more than 4 billion gallons of fuel annually to fleets, industrial users, auto and truck manufacturers, railroads and utilities.
