Manzi Named President, CEO of Prairie Mountain Publishing


BOULDER, Colo., June 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Albert J. Manzi has been named president and chief executive officer of Prairie Mountain Publishing, a newspaper management and operating partnership that was created earlier this year by The E. W. Scripps Company and MediaNews Group.

Concurrent with the appointment, Manzi becomes president and publisher of the Daily Camera in Boulder. Manzi's appointment is effective June 30.

Prairie Mountain Publishing also owns and operates Boulder's Colorado Daily, the Fort Morgan Times, Sterling Journal-Advocate and Lamar Daily News. The management of those operations remains unchanged.

In addition to the five daily newspapers, the partnership, which is headquartered in Boulder, also publishes several community newspapers which are published either weekly or bi-weekly, including the Broomfield Enterprise, the Akron News-Reporter, the Brush News-Tribune, The Burlington Record, Julesburg Advocate and Estes Park Trail-Gazette. Prairie Mountain Publishing is headquartered in Boulder.

Manzi comes to Prairie Mountain Publishing after serving seven years at The Daily Herald in Provo, Utah, first as general manager, and since 2003 as president and publisher.

Manzi, 48, has 25 years experience in newspaper management. While in Provo, he was responsible for the overall supervision and financial performance of The Daily Herald Publishing Company, which publishes The Daily Herald, 10 weekly newspapers and a 90,000-piece total market coverage product and HomeChoice Magazine.

Before moving to Utah, Manzi worked 18 years at The Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., nine as circulation director; three as senior vice president of operations; and his last year there as senior vice president of marketing.

Manzi has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
