WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., June 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The board of directors of BB&T Corporation today declared the 2006 third quarter dividend of $0.42 per share, a 10.5 percent increase over the $0.38 paid in the third quarter of 2005.
The dividend will be paid Aug. 1 to shareholders of record as of July 14.
The five-year compound growth rate for BB&T's quarterly dividend payment is 10.1 percent. BB&T has paid a cash dividend to shareholders every year since 1903. The corporation has increased its quarterly cash dividend payments for 35 consecutive years.
