WATSONVILLE, Calif., July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Granite Construction Incorporated announced today that Granite Construction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary, has been awarded a $20 million road construction project by the California Department of Transportation. The Highway 2 project begins approximately 10 miles outside of Pasadena and runs 58 miles through the Angeles National Forest towards the Mojave Desert.
The project includes 116 lane-miles of asphalt grinding and overlay with 120,000 tons of asphalt rubber hot mix. Other work includes the placement of paving reinforcing fabric, crack-filling, shoulder-backing, and striping. Construction work will be performed by the Palmdale area office of Granite's Bakersfield Branch. Construction-related materials for this project will be supplied by Granite's plant in Littlerock.
The project is expected to begin in August 2006, with completion estimated for August 2007.
