Leading Map publisher Maps.com announces the release of
the expertly detailed and up-to-date Iran Map (www.maps.com/iranmap).
The Santa Barbara-based mapping company is known for publishing
comprehensive high quality maps in response to current events. Details
of the latest map include oil and gas fields and pipelines, key
nuclear sites, major roads and expressways, railroads, historical and
ruin sites, capitals and major cities, and physical information. With
an increasingly global future and heightened conflict in the Middle
East, resources like the Iran Map are fast becoming valuable
educational and reference tools.
A recent study conducted by National Geographic and Roper Public Affairs has revealed that despite widespread media coverage of catastrophic events like Hurricane Katrina, the War with Iraq, and the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, young Americans aged 18-24 remain largely unaware of the affected geographic regions. Of the 510 surveyed, 33 percent could not pinpoint Louisiana on a map, 63 percent could not find Iraq, 75 percent were unable to locate Iran or Israel, and a staggering 88 percent could not find Afghanistan. Studies like these illustrate a growing need for educational map resources in America's classrooms.
However, classrooms aren't the only areas where maps are becoming a necessity. With looming terror threats, defense agencies have also shown a need for such resources. Recently, counter-terrorism task forces have turned to Maps.com and have purchased Middle East map resources in large quantities.
John Serpa, President and CEO of Maps.com, asserts his commitment to providing the highest quality map resources. "The face of global politics is changing, and it's important that we remain informed and prepared. Maps.com will continue to publish maps relevant to today's events." In addition to the Iran Map, Maps.com's online retail site offers a series of highly detailed political maps that include Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the Middle East (for more information on the these and other Maps.com products, visit www.maps.com/mideast).
