VH1's Music Radar

NEW YORK, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Notable this week . . .

Notable News: New Video Adds: Beginning Monday, August 28 Diddy featuring Nicole Scherzinger "Come To Me" The Killers "When You Were Young" Nick Lachey "I Can't Hate You Anymore" Lionel Richie "I Call it Love" Scissor Sisters "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" 30 Seconds To Mars "The Kill" (live @vh1.com)

"You Oughta Know" -- VH1 fills you in on artists on the rise. Get acquainted with these essential new artists.

Corinne Bailey Rae -- This British songbird enjoys the lithe pop vibe of her self-titled debut's soul 'n' jazz arrangements. But there are pockets of grit in this album as well, thanks to Rae's past experience fronting an indie rock band and from her love of Led Zeppelin. The results are honest, intimate and soulful songs.

KT Tunstall -- KT Tunstall has become a sensation in Great Britain with her soulful style of songwriting. Her debut, "Eye to the Telescope" is an intimate album with a rock crunch that comes from an appreciation for the beats of Bo Diddley.

Hinder -- Post grunge rockers, Hinder, make lust and debauchery a central theme to their songs and their gigantic riffs on the guitar combine to make teenagers lustful and parents upset.

Snow Patrol -- Snow Patrol's ability to blend the sounds of smooth ballads and sharp guitars prompted the world to take notice with "Final Straw" and their new album "Eyes Open" prove they are here to stay.

What's on VH1 Classic? ACADEMY AWARD-NOMINATED ANGELA BASSETT HOSTS "CLASSIC JUKEBOX" ON VH1 CLASSIC THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 25 AT 7:00 PM ET* What?! No Tina Turner on the list?

Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett hosts VH1 Classic's "Classic Jukebox" on Friday, August 25 at 7:00 pm*, playing an hour of her favorite classic music videos.

Her choices commemorate the glory days of R&B and soul, featuring music from Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, Isaac Hayes, Marvin Gaye and Prince. During the program, New York native Bassett divulges that she saw the Prince film "Purple Rain" four times on the Upper East Side off of Lexington when it first came out.

Missing from the list is Tina Turner, whom Basset played in the 1993 biopic "What's Love Got To Do With It." Well, she only had the opportunity to fill one hour. She stopped by the VH1 Classic studio to help promote the August 29 DVD release of the Lionsgate film "Akeelah and the Bee," co-starring Bassett. Below are the choices she'll share with viewers this Friday evening:

-- Aretha Franklin -- "Respect" -- Bob Marley -- "Waiting In Vain" -- Boyz II Men -- "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday" -- Brothers Johnson -- "Stomp" -- Chaka Khan -- "Through The Fire" -- Earth, Wind & Fire -- "After The Love Has Gone" -- Isaac Hayes -- Theme from "Shaft" -- Marvin Gaye -- "Mercy Mercy Me" -- Sade -- "Smooth Operator" -- Prince -- "When Doves Cry" -- Heather Small -- "Proud" (from the soundtrack for the film "Akeelah and the Bee" co-starring Bassett.)

Launched in May 2000, VH1 Classic is a 24-hour network that present videos, concerts and music specials all day long, featuring the best of rock, soul and pop artists from the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s, including The Beatles, The Stones, Tina Turner, Led Zeppelin, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Stevie Wonder, The Police and many more.
