Northwest Airlines Announces Seasonal Service to Sun Destinations in Mexico and Caribbean


EAGAN, Minn., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northwest Airlines today announced seasonal service between its hubs at Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Memphis, Tenn., and destinations in Mexico and Caribbean.

"These seasonal flights from our domestic hubs will provide our customers with easy access to popular vacation spots during the peak winter season," said Tom Bach, vice president of market planning and Airlink.

The flights will be available between February 15 and April 8, 2007, operated with Airbus A320 equipment featuring 16 seats in first class and 132 seats in coach.

Detroit Seasonal Service

From its WorldGateway at Detroit, Northwest will offer over a dozen additional flights per week including a second daily service from Detroit to Cancun, Mexico. Flight 1093 will depart Detroit at 6:10 a.m., and arrive Cancun at 9:02 a.m. On the return, flight 1094 will depart Cancun at 5:55 p.m., and arrive in Detroit at 10:48 p.m.


To Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the airline is increasing its service to daily from Detroit. Flight 1327 will depart Detroit at 9:55 a.m., and arrive in Puerto Vallarta at 1:50 p.m. On the return, flight 1326 will depart Puerto Vallarta at 2:45 p.m. and arrive in Detroit at 8:03 p.m.

To San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, Northwest is adding a second weekly flight on Sunday to complement its Saturday service. Flight 1779 will depart from Detroit at 9:25 a.m., and arrive San Jose Del Cabo at 12:20 p.m. On the return, flight 1778 will depart San Jose Del Cabo at 1:20 p.m., and arrive Detroit at 7:40 p.m.

In addition, the airline is adding flights from Detroit to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands to complement existing service.

Flight 1320 will depart Detroit at 10:37 a.m., and arrive Montego Bay at 2:35 p.m. On the return, flight 1321 will depart Montego Bay at 2:30 p.m., arrive Detroit at 7:31 p.m. The flights will operate daily except Wednesday and Friday.

Flight 1796 will depart from Detroit at 10:28 a.m., and arrive Grand Cayman at 2:14 p.m. Flight 1797 will depart Grand Cayman at 3:36 p.m., and arrive Detroit at 7:30 p.m. These flights will operate on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Northwest is also adding to existing service to Cancun from Memphis and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Memphis Seasonal Service

Flight 662 will depart Memphis daily at 2:25 p.m., and arrive Cancun at 4:56 p.m. On the return, flight 663 will depart Cancun at 10:00 a.m., and arrive Memphis at 12:40 p.m. This will bring to two the number of daily roundtrip flight between Memphis and Cancun.

Minneapolis/St. Paul Season Service

Minneapolis/St. Paul will add a third service to Cancun which will operate daily except on Wednesday. Flight 817 will depart the Twin Cities at 11:25 a.m., and arrive Cancun at 3:20 p.m. On the return, flight 816 will depart Cancun at 4:20 p.m., arrive Minneapolis/St. Paul at 8:31 p.m.
