Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington has
donated $1 million to Los Angeles-based Save Africa's Children to help
in their efforts to provide direct support and raise awareness for an
additional 300 orphan care projects across the continent. Currently,
there are 17 million children in Africa who have been left alone
without any parent and without hope due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Save
Africa's Children was founded by Bishop Charles E. Blake, and to date
has been involved in over 350 orphan care projects. By year's end,
Save Africa's Children will be providing direct support for more than
600 orphan care projects, making them the leading organization in the
United States providing support to these children.
