By implementing the Eclipsys electronic medical record (EMR) solution, Liberty Hospital will be able to provide comprehensive up-to-date patient information to physicians, nurses, and other care-givers across the healthcare enterprise. More than 60 percent of Liberty Hospital's acute care patients are admitted through their Level II Trauma Center, and Sunrise Emergency Care will help the hospital optimize its workflows to more easily manage this critical patient service. Since all of Sunrise Clinical Manager modules are fully integrated, patient information gathered in the Emergency Department can easily be reviewed by the clinicians providing patient care in the acute care areas. This helps reduce the potential for miscommunication, avoidable medical errors and delays in care due to lack of clinician access to the complete, up- to-date patient medical record across all care venues.
A long time user of paper-based clinical practice guidelines and evidence- based content from Eclipsys' Clinical Practice Model Resource Center (CPMRC) team, Liberty Hospital will upgrade to Eclipsys Knowledge-Based Charting to provide this content electronically at the point of clinical decision making. Liberty Hospital will also utilize order sets from Zynx Health in the Eclipsys Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) system to standardize care and to improve safety. By integrating the Zynx and CPMRC clinical practice guideline content within Sunrise Clinical Manager, Liberty Hospital can provide its clinicians with tools to help improve care delivery, while building upon the organization's foundation of excellent care.
Liberty Hospital will also leverage Sunrise Pharmacy, along with the rest of the Eclipsys end-to-end medication management solution to improve the safety of the hospital's medication management process from the point where physicians enter medication orders through when the pharmacist fulfills the order and the nurse administers the medication to the patient.
"Like most hospitals, Liberty Hospital is looking to use technology to help us improve patient safety by transforming the way we provide care," said David Feess, Liberty Hospital's chief information officer. "After a thorough review of vendors, we felt Eclipsys provided the best combination of software, clinical content, and a services methodology to help Liberty excel at providing high-acuity care."
"We are very excited to add Liberty Hospital as a new Sunrise Clinical Manager customer," commented Jay Deady, Eclipsys executive vice president of Customer Solutions. "Most importantly, we look forward to beginning the implementation process and working with Liberty Hospital to achieve high clinician adoption, which will help Liberty achieve the same positive patient safety and cost containment outcomes that have been documented throughout the Eclipsys customer base."
