PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) and Perot Systems announced today that the two companies have agreed to modify their current agreements to discontinue the LRSP replacement project in its present form. Perot Systems will continue work on the business process and the information technology outsourcing, which represents the vast majority of the work they do for BCBSRI.
"Several months ago, Blue Cross and Perot took a step back to re-examine the LRSP replacement project. Following that assessment we agreed to make changes to our relationship that reflect the current strategies of our respective companies," said James Purcell, president and CEO of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island.
The contract for the project to replace BCBSRI's core business system (LRSP) was a small portion of the overall relationship between BCBSRI and Perot Systems. The discontinued portion of the relationship represents approximately three percent of the total value of the agreements between the two companies. This change will not impact service to BCBSRI members.
"We are pleased with this new arrangement," said James Purcell. "We look forward to a continued long-term partnership with Perot Systems as our provider of technology, applications, and business process services."
"It is our privilege to serve an outstanding organization like Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island," said Peter Altabef, president and CEO of Perot Systems. "It was very important to us to ensure that the changes to our relationship were mutually beneficial and we are committed to providing our client with outstanding service for many years to come."
