EL PASO, Texas, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- El Paso Electric (EPE) issued, on October 18, 2006, a Request for Proposals (RFP) to determine how to best obtain additional low-cost and reliable electric resources beginning in 2008 or 2009. EPE requires approximately 60 MW beginning in 2008 and up to approximately 300 MW by 2011. EPE will consider acquiring the additional resources through a combination of supply-side and demand-side resources that are proposed in response to this RFP.

Submittal of the Notice of Intent to Bid described in the RFP is mandatory and failure to submit a Notice of Intent to Bid will preclude a party from bidding. The Notice of Intent to Bid is due by November 22, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. MST.
