Delta Dental of Michigan Selects ILOG BRMS for Claims Processing

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ILOG(R) (Nasdaq: ILOG; Euronext: ILO; ISIN: FR0004042364) today announced that Delta Dental of Michigan has selected ILOG JRules(TM), a key offering in ILOG's Business Rule Management System (BRMS) product line for claims processing. Claims processing is highly rule-intensive requiring frequent changes whether they pertain to claims validation, adjudication or regulatory compliance. ILOG BRMS will enable the carrier to implement rule changes in days or real-time. The advanced rule management capabilities delivered through the use of a BRMS-based claims system will further enhance Delta Dental's ability to roll out innovative products faster while continuing to meet the needs of its expansive customers and members base.

Delta Dental of Michigan, with its affiliates in Ohio and Indiana, is the leading group dental benefits provider in the Midwest with nearly 5.5 million members. The tri-state operation is a member of the Delta Dental Plans Association, a nationwide system of independently operated dental health service plans. Together, the plans provide coverage to more than 47 million Americans and operate the nation's largest network of participating dentists.

"We wanted a business rule management system (BRMS) that would meet our ease-of-use, ease-of-integration and performance requirements given that we process over 10.9 million claims annually, supporting a large network of members. ILOG business rule management system provides us a comprehensive solution which addresses the requirements of a large provider like us," said Brenda Laird, Director of Information Systems and Services, Delta Dental of Michigan. "ILOG BRMS integrated easily in our service-oriented architecture (SOA)."

A BRMS-based claims system enables insurance companies of all types and sizes to centrally store, manage and track rules across the entire claims process. Leading insurance carriers rely on ILOG's BRMS for claims management to both automate and add decisioning capabilities to functions such as claims validation, fraud detection, case assignment, task management, adjudication, payment and settlement tasks and enforce regulatory compliance, which typically varies from state to state.

ILOG has consistently built on its history of product innovation to make ILOG JRules the industry's leading business rule software. For the third year in a row, ILOG has been named to the leader quadrant of Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Business Rule Engines and ILOG has twice been named the BRMS market leader by IT research firm IDC. ILOG's BRMS customers in the insurance industry include Metlife, St Paul Travelers, VSP, Allianz, 21st Century Insurance, and Zurich along with many other leading Global 2000 companies and governments worldwide.
