                      Acquisition of Hawkpoint Completed

Collins Stewart plc ("Collins Stewart") today announces that it has acquired
the entire issued share capital of Hawkpoint Holdings Limited, the parent
company of Hawkpoint Partners Limited ("Hawkpoint"), one of the leading
independent corporate finance advisory firms in the UK.

As part of the consideration for the acquisition approximately 35 million new
Collins Stewart ordinary shares, representing approximately 14 per cent. of the
enlarged share capital of Collins Stewart, have been issued to the vendors of
Hawkpoint today.

Paul Baines, Chief Executive and Managing Partner of Hawkpoint, has today been
appointed to the Board of Collins Stewart. There are no other disclosures
required under rule 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services
Authority in connection with Paul Baines' appointment.
