Hawaiian Temporarily Suspends San Diego-Maui Service

HONOLULU, Dec. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. ("Holdings" or "Company"), parent company of (Hawaiian), announced today that Hawaiian is temporarily suspending nonstop daily flights between San Diego and Maui from January 9, 2007 through March 15, 2007, due to a delay in the availability of additional aircraft to its fleet.

In May 2006, Hawaiian announced that service on several routes between the West Coast and Hawaii would be expanded during the fourth quarter in conjunction with the adding of four Boeing 767 jets to its fleet. The suspension of the San Diego-Maui service became necessary as Hawaiian has encountered an unexpected delay in getting interior modifications completed and certified. As a result, Hawaiian has had to reschedule some of its transpacific flights over the past several weeks.

Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and CEO, said, "We realize these changes are causing inconvenience for some of our customers, which goes against everything we work for at Hawaiian, and to them we offer our heartfelt apology. We are working as quickly as possible to complete the interior modifications and have our full complement of aircraft in service."

Hawaiian is accommodating San Diego-Maui travelers affected by the suspension of service by rebooking them on its San-Diego-Honolulu service with an interisland flight to Maui, or making other travel accommodations.

Hawaiian plans to resume its San Diego-Maui nonstop daily service on March 16, 2007.

About Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian was the nation's number one carrier for on-time service, fewest flight cancellations and best baggage service reliability in 2005, according to reports by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Consumer travel surveys conducted by Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and Zagat all rank Hawaiian as the top domestic airline serving Hawaii.

Now in its 78th year of continuous service in Hawaii, Hawaiian is the state's biggest and longest-serving airline, and the second largest provider of passenger air service between Hawaii and the U.S. mainland. Hawaiian offers nonstop service to Hawaii from more U.S. gateway cities than any other airline (nine), as well as service to Australia, American Samoa and Tahiti. Hawaiian also provides approximately 100 daily jet flights among the Hawaiian Islands.
