Arrow Electronics and Cortina Systems Announce North American Distribution Agreement

MELVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The North American Components (NAC) business of Arrow Electronics, Inc. and Cortina Systems Inc., a leading company in intelligent communications solutions, today announced that they have entered into a distribution agreement in North America.

The agreement, effective immediately, provides original equipment and contract manufacturers with access to Cortina's products through Arrow's North American sales and support centers. Cortina's products, which include time division multiplexing (TDM) and optical products recently acquired from Intel, serve the rapidly growing high-bandwidth communications market segments.

"We are delighted to partner with Cortina and broaden our communications product portfolio for our customers. Cortina's demonstrated communications technology leadership compliments Arrow's success in customer design and supply chain support in this market," said David Doherty, vice president, Supplier Marketing, Arrow Electronics.

"Given Cortina's recent acquisition of Intel's optical components business, the next step was to expand our sales channel," said Rick Walther, vice president, Sales, Cortina Systems. "Cortina has a reputation for superior quality and customer support, these are the main attributes we looked at when selecting Arrow as our distributor."
