CHICAGO, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northern Trust Corporation announced today that Kelly King Dibble has been appointed senior vice president and director of public affairs. As Northern Trust's senior public affairs officer, Ms. Dibble will direct the company's external government relationship strategies and activities at the municipal, state, and federal levels. She will report to Kelly R. Welsh, executive vice president and general counsel.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Ms. Dibble served as the Executive Director of the Illinois Housing Development Authority since 2003. In this position, Ms. Dibble was responsible for budgetary, operational, legislative and policy objectives of the Authority which has more than $2 billion in assets and 200 employees. Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Dibble led the state's comprehensive housing initiative and provided more than $500 million annually to finance quality, affordable housing for Illinois families, seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Ms. Dibble has extensive public and private real estate experience. As a deputy commissioner for the Chicago Department of Planning and Development, Ms. Dibble created initiatives to stimulate the residential and commercial development on the city's near west and south sides. Ms. Dibble's private sector experiences involved hotel and commercial project development, and legal representation of asset based lending institutions, including serving as a director of Chicago's Hyatt Development Corp. from 1995 to 2000, providing analysis and project leadership. Before graduating in 1985 from Harvard Law School, Ms. Dibble launched her long-standing interest in affordable housing and community development as president of the Harvard Real Estate and Urban Development Forum. Earlier, she earned a B.A. in economics from Wellesley College in 1982.
