PLANO, Texas, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- One clever scavenger hunt enthusiast and Dr Pepper fan has become America's newest millionaire through the Dr Pepper HUNT FOR MORE promotion. Laura Janisch, a 23-year-old Houstonian and recent graduate of the University of Texas, solved clues that led her to the gold coin in her region, which happened to be the $1 million grand prize. Twenty-two other gold coins and one virtual gold coin, redeemable for amounts varying from $10,000 to $250,000, were also hidden in various locations throughout the United States and Canada.

Janisch and her parents, who are big fans of Dr Pepper as well as avid geo-cachers, used clues revealed online at drpepper.com each day for the past 30 days to locate the coin, which was found near the Spirit of Confederacy statue in Sam Houston Park. The clues tested Laura's knowledge of geography, history and world events.
"We are thrilled to provide Dr Pepper drinkers with an unforgettable experience and a chance of a lifetime through the Dr Pepper HUNT FOR MORE promotion," said Andrew Springate, vice president of Dr Pepper marketing. "Laura outwitted the rest by solving clues to locate the gold coin in her region and ultimately, won $1 million"
The Phenomenon with 23:
23 has been receiving a lot of attention. While Dr Pepper's 23 flavors can be sinfully delicious, enjoying the beverage will only result in experience a rich, bold taste like no other. 23 is taking on even more significance as a 23-year-old is one of 23 winners, who solved clues to win prize money in a promotion for Dr Pepper, which boasts 23 flavors!
Here's how the Dr Pepper HUNT FOR MORE promotion worked:
* Dr Pepper hid 23 Dr Pepper HUNT FOR MORE gold coins in mystery
locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
* On Jan. 23, fans began entering promotional codes from specially marked
packages of Dr Pepper online at drpepper.com and received clues for the
contest. Consumers were given a clue for the treasure that was hidden
in their region based on the ZIP code associated with their
registration on drpepper.com. One clue per promotional code was
released each day for the 30-day promotional period. Participants were
able to receive clues from previous days for each additional
promotional code entered.
* As a bonus, each clue given for a physical treasure location was
accompanied by a second clue for locating a virtual gold coin that
could be claimed via a phone call rather than physically attaining the
coin. Just like the physical hunt, participants deciphered clues to
locate where the virtual coin was hidden and called a special toll-free
number to claim the prize.
* Each Dr Pepper HUNT FOR MORE gold coin had a unique code and toll-free
number on the back so the winner who found the coin can call to claim
the prize and confirm the winning prize amount.
