EPA Names Jones Lang LaSalle 2007 ENERGY STAR (R) Partner of the Year

CHICAGO, March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Jones Lang LaSalle a 2007 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for outstanding energy management and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Jones Lang LaSalle's accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 21, 2007.

The 2007 Partner of the Year award recognizes efforts to use energy efficiently in facility operations and to integrate superior energy management into overall organizational strategy. Award winners are selected from thousands of organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.

Jones Lang LaSalle will be honored for smart energy management practices and investments throughout its operations that resulted in significant energy and financial savings. Jones Lang LaSalle's Energy Management program combines three general strategies -- operational improvements, strategic energy procurement and capital investments in equipment -- under a single source of oversight and responsibility to help real estate owners and occupants reduce energy usage by as much as 20 percent. In 2006, Jones Lang LaSalle was responsible for $33 million in energy cost savings as well as reductions of greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 89,000 tons.

"Energy management is the basis of our commitment to sustainability," said Colin Dyer, Chief Executive Officer of Jones Lang LaSalle. "We have the skill sets and the determination to deliver great results in energy management for real estate operations on behalf of our clients and ourselves."

"Energy efficiency is smart business, and it is part of being a good corporate citizen," said John Schinter, Vice President and head of the Energy Management practice at Jones Lang LaSalle. "Through our partnership with ENERGY STAR, we are driving the financial and environmental benefits of responsible energy management."

"The success of Jones Lang LaSalle in proactively managing energy usage is a model for businesses across the country," said Bill Wehrum, acting assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Air and Radiation. "Because buildings contribute about 20 percent of our national greenhouse gas emissions, effective energy management helps the bottom line and protects our environment."

Across the U.S., top companies and organizations are continuing to promote strategic energy management through participation in ENERGY STAR. Last year alone, Americans with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved $14 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 25 million vehicles.
