The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P) said today that it is removing certain dog and cat food products sold under the America's Choice, Mighty Dog and Iams labels from its stores. The products were supplied by Menu Foods (Emporia, Kansas), which at the weekend initiated a North American recall of all dog and cat food made for various manufacturers and retailers under its "cuts and gravy format between December 3, 2006 and March 6, 2007.

A&P said that products included in the recall were being removed from all of its regional banner operations including A&P, Super Foodmart, Waldbaum's, The Food Emporium, Super Fresh, Food Basics, Farmer Jack and Sav-A-Center stores.
Menu Foods has advised consumers who have products subject to the recall to stop using them, and return them to Menu Foods in accordance with the procedure also found at www.menufoods.com/recall.A&P said that purchasers of recalled items at any of its above-named stores may return all unopened items to the stores for a full refund.

America's Choice - Preferred Pet Beef Cuts/Gravy dog food; Preferred Pet Turkey Cuts/Gravy dog food; Preferred Pet Chicken Cuts/Gravy dog food; Preferred Pet Stew Cuts/Gravy dog food; Preferred Pet Lamb Cuts/Vegetables/Gravy dog food; Preferred Pet Chicken/Gravy cat food; Preferred Pet Beef/Gravy cat food.
Mighty Dog - All 5.3-ounce "Pouch products, single and/or multi-packs, including: Prime Beef and Chicken pouch; Prime Chicken and Vegetable pouch; Prime Beef and Vegetable pouch; Prime Chicken Pouch; Prime Turkey Pouch; Variety Pack pouch; Beef pouch; Bundled 4-12 count pouch.
Iams - All dog and cat foods sold in cans or foiled pouches.
