7-Eleven Signs Contract Extension with EDS for Enterprise Application and Infrastructure Management

PLANO, Texas and DALLAS, March 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EDS today announced that 7-Eleven, Inc. has extended its contract with EDS through February 2012. EDS will continue to develop, host and manage 7-Eleven's enterprise applications and the infrastructure that supports inventory and logistics processes, provides business intelligence insight and performs back-office functions, such as enterprise resource planning, payroll and accounting.

The agreement allows 7-Eleven the flexibility to easily manage its portfolio of applications as business needs and processes change, currently enabling 7-Eleven in aligning its IT portfolio with the company's Retailer Initiative strategy. This initiative focuses on maximizing results and improving productivity in the areas of operations, merchandising, accounting, planning and information systems through item-by-item management and putting product decision-making in the hands of its stores' franchisees and managers.

"This agreement aligns well with our business objective of flexibility and scalability and meets the need to adapt as we change and grow," said Sharon Stufflebeme, chief information officer for 7-Eleven. "These applications help provide the support we need to continue to deliver customers what they want, when and where they want it."

The agreement is also based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL(R)) framework, a standard set of best practice approaches and procedures that improve IT service delivery and helps organizations such as 7-Eleven improve productivity.

"These critical applications are like arteries carrying valuable information from store to store and across the enterprise to help 7-Eleven continue to meet its customers' needs," said Mike Klaus, EDS vice president, Global Consumer Industries and Retail. "As the retailer grows and evolves, the structure of this agreement provides the flexibility to allow 7-Eleven to continue to lead the industry in innovation."

EDS has provided IT services for 7-Eleven for more than 15 years, helping the retailer integrate all its sales, inventory, purchasing and accounting systems within a single enterprise-wide solution.

EDS serves more than 200 consumer and retail industry clients and generates more than $1.2 billion in revenue in this sector annually. As a leading provider in the consumer and retail industries, EDS focuses on a variety of market segments including food/beverage, apparel/footwear, consumer products and retail outlets including restaurants, mass/department, grocery, drug, convenience, online/catalog and specialty.
