WASHINGTON, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- BET Networks Chairman and CEO Debra Lee issued the following statement today in salute to the life of Eddie Robinson, former coach of Grambling State University, who died in Louisiana on Tuesday at the age of 88:
"Today we lost a great man, a legend, and a living example of everything
that is great about sports. The far-reaching impact of Coach Eddie
Robinson's career should be measured not only by the number of players who
he prepared to go on to the NFL, but by the thousands of men in whom he
instilled the principles of teamwork, preparation, and dedication --
qualities that have surely served them beyond their glory days on the
playing field."
BET is proud to have shared in his legacy having broadcast Coach Robinson's Grambling football games at a time when other networks would not. For more than two decades, BET was the destination for Historically Black College and University gridiron contests with BET Black College Football Saturday telecasts each fall.
