RALEIGH, N.C., April 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Oak Grove Technologies, LLC, a leading Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), announced today that they received the prestigious U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Nunn-Perry Award for Mentor Protege Excellence. Oak Grove and its mentor, Science Applications International Corporation , were among eight companies recognized for their outstanding contributions to the warfighter and our nation's defense.
The award was presented to Mark Gross, president and CEO of Oak Grove, and Joseph Green, SAIC assistant vice president, business development, Systems Technologies Operation, during the Mentor-Protege Conference, held March 6-8, 2007, in Temecula, California. "What an honor it was to accept this award," Gross said. "Through this mentoring relationship, Oak Grove was able to achieve many of its goals, a direct result of the training provided by SAIC. This is the culmination of a great and prosperous year that has set the benchmark for Oak Grove's future."
The Mentor-Protégé Program was established in 1990 to encourage major DoD prime contractors to provide assistance and improve the capabilities of small business proteges. The program was also designed to improve the protege's ability to compete for federal contracts. Oak Grove was the first SDVOSB recognized under the Department of Defense's Mentor-Protege Program.
The purpose of Oak Grove's Mentor-Protege agreement, sponsored by the U.S. Army, is to expand and enhance the company's capabilities and services to DoD, resulting in a SDVOSB that will contribute strongly as a prime contractor. Oak Grove has successfully developed new capabilities and is on target to achieve Capability Maturity Model(R) Integration (CMMI) level 3 certification by the end of the agreement. Additionally, Oak Grove has received extensive training in business development and capture and proposal management.
