SAN FRANCISCO, April 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company today announced the election of Thomas B. King as chairman of the board of directors for the utility and G. Robert Powell as its chief financial officer. Both appointments are effective June 1, 2007.
King's new role is consistent with the earlier announcement that effective July 1, 2007, he will become president of Pacific Gas & Electric Company's parent, PG&E Corporation where he will oversee the utility, in addition to focusing on strategic growth opportunities. He currently serves as the utility's chief executive officer.
Powell is currently vice president and controller for both the utility and PG&E Corporation. He will retain these roles.
"These actions support the California Public Utilities Commission's recent examination of the relationship between major energy utilities and their parent holding companies and affiliates," said Peter A Darbee, PG&E Corporation Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President. "Tom and Bob are two highly qualified members of our team, and we are fortunate to have their leadership available to assume these additional responsibilities."
