PG&E Appoints John Conway as Site Vice President for Diablo Canyon Power Plant

SAN FRANCISCO, May 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company announced today the appointment of John T. Conway as site vice president of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant in San Luis Obispo County, CA, effective May 29.

Conway brings a strong background in nuclear station leadership to Diablo Canyon, most recently as site vice president of the Monticello Nuclear Plant in Minnesota. He will be the senior officer responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation of the station.

"The team at Diablo Canyon is among the best in the nation, producing strong safety and operational results for more than 20 years," said Jack Keenan, PG&E senior vice president and chief nuclear officer. "With John's leadership, we will continue to raise our performance standards and build on our culture of continuous improvement."

In addition to his recent role with Nuclear Management Company at Monticello Nuclear Plant, Conway spent 24 years at Nine Mile Point Station in Oswego, NY, in a series of positions of increasing responsibility, including the senior executive role at the station.

Conway holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. He has also attained numerous professional licenses and certifications, including Nuclear Regulatory Commission Senior Reactor Operator licenses for the two units at Nine Mile Point. He is active in his community with charitable organizations and as a youth soccer coach.

Diablo Canyon Power Plant is located at Avila Beach, CA. Its two units together produce 2,300 net megawatts of electricity, about 10 percent of the electricity generated in California, and enough to meet the needs of more than 2 million homes in central and northern California.
