ATLANTA, May 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SunTrust Banks Inc. has announced that veteran SunTrust banker John Frazer has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the company's Memphis Region effective May 9, 2007.
The Memphis Region is comprised of 39 retail offices throughout Memphis and the surrounding area.
With more than 18 years of banking experience with SunTrust and its predecessor institutions, Mr. Frazer most recently served as Executive Vice President and head of the Memphis Region's Private Wealth Management Line of Business. He was named to that position in October, 2004.
During his career, Mr. Frazer has held numerous relationship management positions in the retail, commercial and corporate banking areas. He also held several branch management positions during his tenure in commercial banking.

Mr. Frazer is a 1986 graduate of The Citadel with a BA in History. After college graduation, as an airborne ranger infantry officer, he served three years as an infantry officer in the 82nd Airborne Division, USA. In 1998, Mr. Frazer received his diploma from The Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University. He also holds Series 7, 24 and 66 securities licenses and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
Active in the community, Mr. Frazer currently serves as a board member of the East Lake Community Foundation and the Memphis Inter-Faith Association (MIFA), is Chairman of the Board for the Friends of First Tee at East Lake, and is Chairman of Soulmates, Memphis Soulsville USA.
