RICHMOND, Va., May 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. , a leading provider of real estate transaction services, announces that Michael D. Beverly has been appointed Senior Vice President - Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, overseeing corporate governance and securities issues and providing legal guidance to the International, Operations Resources, Communications Resources, and Investor Relations departments. He is based in Richmond, Virginia.
Beverly comes to LandAmerica from Chesapeake Corporation, where he served as Assistant Secretary and Associate General Counsel. Previously, he was an attorney for the law firm of Hunton & Williams in Richmond. Before that, he served as a judicial law clerk for the late Hon. Bernard G. Barrow of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.

He is currently Chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Virginia Bar Association and serves on the Steering Committee of the Richmond Chapter of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, Virginia State Bar, and the Richmond Bar Association.
Beverly received his juris doctorate from the University of Virginia and his bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
