Midwest Comments On Reports From Proxy Advisory Services

MILWAUKEE, June 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Midwest Air Group, Inc. , parent company of Midwest Airlines, today commented on reports issued by two proxy advisory services -- Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. (ISS) and Glass Lewis & Co. -- regarding Midwest's Annual Meeting of Shareholders, scheduled for June 14, 2007.

"With all due respect for those organizations, we strongly disagree with their recommendations," said Timothy E. Hoeksema, chairman and chief executive officer. "The Midwest Air Group Board of Directors is fully committed to creating long-term value for Midwest shareholders, while AirTran's primary goal is to engage in an opportunistic transaction."

Hoeksema pointed out that the ISS recommendation did not in any way endorse AirTran's plan over Midwest's long-term strategic plan, but rather indicated that in its view an alternate slate of directors would offer value by bringing a diversity of viewpoints to the boardroom. Further, Hoeksema indicated that the Glass Lewis advisory recommended that shareholders support only two of the three directors on the AirTran slate.

"The Midwest board believes that Midwest's comprehensive long-term strategic plan is the best way to deliver long-term value to Midwest shareholders," said Hoeksema. "The board fully supports the numerous strategic initiatives the company is undertaking, in particular its recent announcements of a far-ranging codeshare partnership with Northwest Airlines and the introduction of a dual-seating option on all Midwest Airlines flights."

Hoeksema asked Midwest shareholders to carefully evaluate the merits of Midwest's long-term strategic plan before making their decision regarding the director candidates. "Midwest's incumbent directors have a deep understanding of the company and the potential of its strategic plan, and have proven their commitment to fulfilling their fiduciary obligations."

The Midwest Air Group Board of Directors unanimously recommends that its shareholders VOTE FOR THE MIDWEST SLATE of John F. Bergstrom, James R. Boris and Frederick P. Stratton, Jr. for re-election to the board of directors on the WHITE proxy card.

Midwest Airlines features jet service throughout the United States, including Milwaukee's most daily nonstop flights and best schedule to major destinations. Catering to business travelers and discerning leisure travelers, the airline earned its reputation as "The best care in the air" by providing passengers with impeccable service and onboard amenities at competitive fares. Both Skyway Airlines, Inc. -- a wholly owned subsidiary of Midwest Airlines -- and SkyWest Airlines, Inc. operate as Midwest Connect and offer service to and connections through Midwest Airlines' hubs. Together, the airlines offer service to 51 cities. More information is available at http://www.midwestairlines.com/.
