"Now is the time to define you," Dan Warmenhoven, CEO of Silicon Valley-based Network Appliance, told graduates at Santa Clara University's graduate commencement ceremony on June 15 at the university's Leavey Center.
Warmenhoven encouraged the Class of 2007 to use this time of change to think carefully about what they want their life to be about; what success means to them; and how they want to be remembered. He suggested focusing on three areas of life: personal; professional; and community in order to answer these questions. "My hope is that you embrace the opportunity to make a difference in the world," he said.
Network Appliance Inc. is a leader in enterprise data management and open network storage solutions. Under Warmenhoven's leadership, Network Appliance has grown to become a multibillion dollar company and is now recognized as a market leader in network storage "” a concept the company helped pioneer.
Dan and his wife Charmaine Warmenhoven, who are community leaders and philanthropists, received honorary degrees for their commitment to public service at Santa Clara University's 156th commencement ceremony.
More than 4000 family and friends celebrated and cheered as 522 graduates from the School of Education, Counseling Psychology, and Pastoral Ministries, the Leavey School of Business, and the School of Engineering received their degrees.
