Boeing Selects Goodrich Video Monitoring Technology for 777 Freighter

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, June 17 /PRNewswire/ --

(Paris Air Show) -- The Boeing Company has selected Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) to provide cargo door video monitoring systems to be included as standard equipment on its new 777 Freighter. Goodrich's technology is designed to monitor the area around the main cargo door during opening and closing to assist in the prevention of damage to an aircraft. The system can also enhance ground personnel safety as its cameras allow operators to check for personnel, ground equipment or other obstructions before opening and closing the cargo door. Goodrich's first deliveries of the monitoring system to Boeing are expected to begin in early 2008.

The Goodrich cargo door video monitoring system includes an operator display and control panel located in the flight deck crew rest area and three cameras. Two of the cameras are located just inside the cargo door and the third camera is located on the leading edge of the left horizontal stabilizer.

"By preventing damage to an aircraft, our video monitoring system will save cargo operators time and money -- we can help keep their aircraft in operation and keep their freight moving," said Jan Mathiesen, Vice President, Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems. "We appreciate Boeing's confidence in our ability to provide this system which represents the newest addition to our growing portfolio of video solutions. Our experience with the Boeing 787 flight deck entry video surveillance system, 737/777 video-over-EFB and video-over-MFD systems, as well as cockpit door video surveillance systems all served as the foundation for this award," he added.

Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems provides a broad range of systems to the aerospace industry worldwide including SmartProbe(TM) air data systems, Electronic Flight Bag systems, security and surveillance systems, fuel measurement and management systems, health and usage management systems, ice detection and protection systems, and rescue hoists and cargo winch systems.
