Dan Buchler was promoted to partner from senior manager. He provides transaction advisory services, working with both corporate and private equity clients on buy-side and sell-side due diligence, primarily in the media and entertainment industries. Dan co-authored the article, "Changing Times for M&E" in InterChange, Ernst & Young's publication for the transaction community. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and a Chartered Financial Analyst. Dan received his bachelor of commerce degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
Suzanne DeJong was promoted to partner from senior manager. As a member of the Technology and Security Risk Services practice, she has extensive experience with information security, risk management and service auditor examinations. She focuses on clients in media and entertainment and financial services. A Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor, Suzanne earned her B.S. in business administration from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo.
Mark Sogomian was promoted to partner from senior manager. Since 2005, Mark has been the Pacific Southwest resident in Ernst & Young's Professional Practice Group. He has been heavily involved in the annual client continuance process, technical consultations, education programs, audit quality reviews and the PCAOB inspection processes. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs. Mark graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.S. in business economics.
Steven Schechter was promoted to partner from senior manager. He is the firm's West Coast Media & Entertainment tax resident, and is a frequent speaker on FAS 109 Accounting for Income Taxes and FIN 48. Licensed to practice in California, Steven is a Certified Public Accountant. He earned a B.S. in physics, with a business emphasis, from the University of California, Los Angeles and an M.S. in accountancy, with an emphasis in taxation, from San Diego State University.
Nancy Chan was promoted to executive director from senior manager. She is part of Ernst & Young's Financial Services Office (FSO) and focuses on asset management. Nancy serves as a hedge fund team leader on the Pacific Southwest area FSO tax team. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs. She received her B.S. in accounting from Loyola Marymount University and her M.S. in taxation from Golden Gate University.
Karen Angel was promoted to director from associate director. She has been instrumental in building Ernst & Young's Global Media & Entertainment Center, channeling resources to develop thought leadership and industry-specific training. Karen rejoined Ernst & Young in 2006. Previously, she was an executive director in the firm's Media & Entertainment audit practice. She has also served as chief financial officer and controller for media and entertainment companies. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California. She is president of the San Fernando Chapter of Executive Women International, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs.
Kim Vogler was promoted to director from associate director. With more than 20 years of experience, Kim is the lead people consultant for Ernst & Young's Assurance and Advisory Business Services practice in the Pacific Southwest area. She works closely with the firm's leadership and serves as an architect of a number of people processes, including performance management, compensation/variable pay and leadership promotions. She is a graduate of Kalamazoo College, where she received her B.A. in French.
