Comcast Named in Top Three 'Best Companies to Work For' in WA State

SEATTLE, June 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Washington CEO Magazine named Comcast among the top three "Best Companies to Work For" in the state last night at an awards ceremony in downtown Seattle. Comcast is Washington's leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services.

"To be recognized as one of the top three 'Best Companies to Work For' by Washington CEO is quite an honor and a testament to Comcast's dynamic team. We pride ourselves on acting like a small company with a family atmosphere even though we have more than 3,000 employees in the state," said Len Rozek, Regional Senior Vice President, Washington. "With the hard work and dedication of our employees, we've created a company that Washington residents look to first for the technology that connects them to what's important in their lives."

Washington CEO Magazine received nominations from hundreds of companies, including Comcast. Approximately 1,000 Comcast Washington state employees were surveyed for the award. The ranking is based on the satisfaction of Comcast's employees and the Washington CEO judging panel.

At the awards ceremony, the business magazine took special note of the following Comcast programs: a virtual customer account executive work program that allows high-performing employees to work from home; the benefits package that includes tuition reimbursement and a dedicated training program; and the company's wide variety of frontline and management training programs called Comcast University.

Washington CEO also gave Comcast high marks for its community involvement, especially Comcast Cares Day, the company-wide day of service in which more than 1,600 employees volunteer in local communities across the state.

"I feel valued as an employee because Comcast supports my work and life balance, my professional development and my volunteering in the community," said Dustin Blatnik, a supervisor in Comcast's Fife, Wash., call center.

Comcast continues to grow its team to meet the high demand for its products and services. Earlier this month, Comcast announced that it will hire 280 new employees throughout the state in the coming months. In addition, the company is on schedule to open a new call center and regional headquarters in Lynnwood in mid-July. The new building will have capacity to hold more than 500 employees and will join call centers in Fife and Everett in handling virtually all calls made by Washington Comcast customers.

The majority of available jobs are for front-line technicians and customer care representatives, with the rest crossing the broad categories of engineering and sales. "The new employees will join an already strong, customer-focused team that is bringing advanced entertainment and communications products to residents of the state," Rozek said. Through the hard work and dedication of local Comcast employees, the company continues to enhance the technology available to Washington residents."

Comcast has doubled the amount of ON DEMAND programming available in the past two years and has made more than 100 hours of HD VOD programming available each month as well as adding new Comcast Digital Voice features like the ability to check voice mail online -- all at no additional charge.
