MCKENNEY, Va., July 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bank of McKenney today announced that Louis J. "Sonny" Blaha, Jr. was elected as the newest member to the Board of Directors at a regular meeting of the Board on July 10, 2007. Louis is a retired construction superintendent for Gerald K. Moody, Inc. T/A Southern Construction Co, Petersburg, Virginia.
Louis served in the US Army Reserve for 10 years, earning Honorable Discharge as Staff Sergeant. During that time he also began his career with Virginia Department of Transportation in 1955 on a survey party and transferred in 1969 to the "Right of Way Department" until 1977 preparing residential and commercial appraisals for right of way acquisitions. From 1977 to 2004, Louis worked for Southern Construction Company as construction superintendent.
In 1975, Louis also began umpiring and directing slow-pitch softball tournaments for United States Specialty Sports Association. In 1980, he was appointed Virginia State Director managing approximately 375 tournaments throughout the state of Virginia.
Louis was born on September 23, 1937 in Colonial Heights, Virginia and has lived in the tri-cities area all of his life. Louis has one son, Keith Blaha, one daughter, Gail Shelley, one step-daughter, Patricia Moody and is married to Thelma Andrews Blaha. He is a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
He is a member of Loyal Order of Moose, Chippoax Hunt Club, Sussex/Newville Hunt Club, and a lifetime member of Cavalier Athletic Club.
