Sophie's Cuban Cuisine announced today the celebration of their 10th anniversary with a contest, prizes, gifts and give-aways. The Grand Prize in the contest is a three night trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Airfare for two, deluxe hotel, and meals are included. The contest begins on Monday August 6 and all entries must be in by August 24th; winners will be selected by the judges on August 31, 2007.
Contestants must submit a story of their favorite Sophie's experience in 150 words or less in either a drop box in one of the five Sophie's restaurants in Manhattan or by mail or email. There is one grand prize winner but each restaurant will also select a winner for a sandwich every week for a year. There will also be $10 gift certificates awarded for 5 other winners in each restaurant. Detailed contest rules can be found at sophiescuban.com or by request in each restaurant.
In addition to the contest fun, each Sophie's Cuban Cuisine restaurant is also giving away a $5.00 gift certificate to the first 100 lunch customers who buy a sandwich or an entrée on August 6, 7, and 8. From August 13th through August 17th the first 200 lunch customers each day will be given a solar powered calculator. Finally, for the last week of the contest Sophie's is "Going Bananas" with a free order of sweet or green plantains on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd with the purchase of any sandwich or entrée.

Sophie's now has five restaurants operating in Manhattan at: 369 Lexington Av., 179 Madison Av., 23 W. 56th St., 96 Chambers St., and 73 New St. Another one on 40th is under construction and the company's first two franchisees also have sites under construction. One is on 23rd St. and the other is on Fulton Street.
