CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Piedmont Natural Gas employees completed construction today on a new Habitat for Humanity house in Charlotte, North Carolina. The home's new owners, Quincy McCloud and LeCreasha Belle along with their two children Stacy, 5, and Adrian, 3, were recognized during a dedication ceremony today at the new home.
The family will close on the house in late October and plan to move in before Thanksgiving.
"I met a lot of people who were willing to give their time to make this happen for me and my family," said Quincy. "I feel blessed and thank God for these people and Habitat for Humanity for making our dream come true."
Piedmont employees across North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee have helped to construct numerous Habitat for Humanity homes over the years. This most recent project began in late June with 175 Charlotte-based employees volunteering their time and talents to construct the 1,200 square-foot-home. The home was completed three weeks ahead of schedule.
"We are grateful for the support and generosity of partners like Piedmont Natural Gas to make sure children and their families, such as the McCloud's, have a simple, decent place to live and grow," said Bert Green, executive director. "Such a gift is an example of their commitment to help to eradicate poverty housing in Charlotte."
Financial support was provided in part by the Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation, which awarded a $60,000 grant to the project. High efficiency natural gas appliances and equipment were donated and installed by Holiday Comfort Heating & AC, Dan King Plumbing, Heating and AC and WB & Associates.
"Giving back to the community is such an important part of Piedmont's culture and I am very proud to be part of that" said Jose Simon, vice president and controller for Piedmont Natural Gas. "I want to thank my Piedmont teammates; our business partners and the Habitat organization for their efforts in making this project a success. We wish the best to the McCloud/Belle family as they begin a new chapter of their lives in this wonderful home."
