Statewide Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser to Benefit Special Olympics Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- On Saturday, Sept. 29 from 12 to 8 p.m., local law enforcement officers will trade in their handcuffs and badges for serving aprons and burgers at all 16 Red Robin(R) restaurants in Oregon for a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser. During the Tip-A-Cop fundraiser, law enforcement officers will collect tips from restaurant guests to benefit Special Olympics Oregon.

Tip-A-Cop is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign (LETR). LETR, which includes an international series of relay runs and special events like Tip-A-Cop, is presented by more than 85,000 law enforcement officers worldwide to raise money and public awareness for Special Olympics. LETR is the largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics where funds raised go directly to local programs in states or countries where the funds are generated.

"On behalf of Special Olympics Oregon, we would like to thank local law enforcement and Red Robin for their incredible support," said Margie Hunt, chief executive officer for Special Olympics Oregon. "Efforts like these make it possible for us to continue to provide high-quality sports training programs and competitions, free of charge, to all Special Olympics athletes."

"We are honored to be a part of this program and to support Special Olympics Oregon," said Kim McBee, Red Robin vice president of marketing. "We encourage the community to join us on this special day to support Special Olympics athletes and local law enforcement in Oregon."
