The World's Gate (WG), Inc., owner of the leading overseas Chinese portal site, www.edoors.com, launched its beta-version of "File-Sharing World" service today.
The "File-Sharing World" service, based on the popular "Network Storage" service, began in February by the World's Gate (WG) as part of the "World of Worlds," a new type of social networking service.
"For services in the category of file sharing, users are most concerned about two aspects: usability and security. We have paid particular attention to these two aspects during our development," said Alex Wang, Vice President of WG.
A registered user will be offered 600MB of storage space, and can upload files as big as 200MB. The user interface is extremely user-friendly and intuitive. More importantly, this service is seamlessly integrated with other existing web services WG offers. A user can easily access the files in his/her "File-Sharing World," while connected to other services, such as attaching files when the user is composing an email with WG's web mail service. Registration is free.
Users can set the security level of their file folders. If a folder is set to "public," all the files in that folder can be shared with everyone and will appear in the "File-Sharing World" top page. If a folder is set to "password protection," then files within that folder can only be accessed by users with the password.
Alex Wang said that the basic service is completely free for individual users. "We welcome web surfers to find a safe, permanent home for their files at File-Sharing World," he said.
