NDS Surgical Imaging (NDS), a leading manufacturer of medical electronics equipment for digital Operating Rooms and Surgical Suites, has announced that its standard products are now RoHS-compliant. RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) is a European Union directive prohibiting products that contain any of six specific substances. For electronics, lead-free construction is the most prominent requirement of the RoHS directive.
Over the past year, NDS has dedicated a cross-functional team to achieve RoHS compliance by working with external suppliers and internal personnel to implement, control, document, and ensure compliance with this environmental standard. NDS has achieved its goal where all products manufactured at its facility are RoHS-compliant.
"Offering all of our standard products in RoHS-compliant versions is a major step forward, puts us in alignment with the RoHS directive, and offers our customers the flexibility they need to comply with the European requirement," commented Ron Hansen, Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer.
NDS' RoHS-compliant products are form, fit and function equivalent to their non-RoHS-compliant priors, and are drop-in compatible. Existing NDS software and firmware operate transparently with the RoHS-compliant versions. The RoHS-compliant products provide the same level of quality, compatibility and reliability customers have come to expect from NDS.
