Bill Power: A Biography
During his sixteen-year career, Bill Power has been a leader in every major facet of our business: global holding companies, large multinational agencies, and on the client side, from Fortune 500 companies to technology start-ups.
Most recently, he oversaw the GE brand on a global basis, across four continents and more than a dozen offices. Under his leadership, BBDO was awarded numerous additional assignments including product campaigns in Latin America, international agency of record for online advertising, and experiential marketing in Europe and China. In addition, he helped spearhead GE's high-publicized, award-winning new media initiatives, "Imagination Theater" video on demand and "One Second Theater" interactive television. Bill also led the Hertz brand, an account he helped pitch and win earlier this year.
As a member of the IPG Stewardship Team assembled to run the $200 million Bank of America account, Bill was responsible for media strategy, including new media innovation, mass advertising, consumer research, movie and TV product placement, business consulting and design services.
Among other experiences, Bill's position as Senior Marketing Communications Manager at IBM provided a unique perspective into global brand management in a fast-paced, global high-tech category. Responsible for advertising, direct marketing, public relations, naming & branding, events and packaging, Bill partnered with numerous agency types and sizes around the world for IBM's Server Group. Bill also served as Vice President, Marketing Communications at Droplets, Inc., a New York area high-tech start-up backed by McKinsey & Company partners and investors.
A big agency veteran, Bill has held increasingly senior account positions at WPP's leading agency networks; as Senior Partner, Management Director at JWT leading the global Novell and domestic Merrill Lynch accounts; at Y&R, leading the global brand team for the agency's Citibank account; and at Ogilvy's Chicago, Paris and New York offices on the agency's IBM, Unilever and Sears accounts.
