AccessFlow today announced that it was the recipient of this year's Rising Star of the Americas Award from VMware, the virtualization leader, at VMworld Partner Day on September 10, 2007 in San Francisco. The award recognizes AccessFlow as the partner with the highest revenue achievement after its first year as a VMware VIP Partner Program member. AccessFlow was one of more than 1,600 Americas partners considered for the award.
"We have been impressed with AccessFlow's first year as a VMware VIP partner. AccessFlow has invested in its virtualization practice and has achieved excellent revenue results in only one year with us," said Carl Eschenbach, executive vice president of worldwide field operations for VMware. "We look forward to our relationship with AccessFlow expanding further in 2008."
AccessFlow is an unusual VMware VIP Partner in that co-founders Steve Kaplan and Gary Lamb started the company in mid-2005 with the intent on focusing exclusively on enterprise virtualization. AccessFlow is known for its deep technical VMware expertise as well as for innovative approaches to helping IT staff sell the virtualization concept to their own organizations. These approaches include ROI analyses, the VirtualMan / VirtualWoman comic book series and the PG&E utility rebate program for virtualization, which originated with the efforts of AccessFlow.
"AccessFlow originally approached us about extending our energy efficiency incentive program to one of their potential clients that was considering server virtualization," said Randal Cole, Senior Project Manager for PG&E's High Tech Energy Efficiency team. "Server virtualization and consolidation has since developed into a significant program to both save datacenter customers money and to promote environmental benefits by reducing the consumption of electricity."
One of AccessFlow's clients, Radiator Express Warehouse, also known as 1 800Radiator, was the first company in the country to receive an energy rebate check from a utility company for virtualizing its IT infrastructure. "AccessFlow was an instrumental part of taking 31 physical servers out of production," said Mike Carvalho, CTO of Radiator Express Warehouse. "Their passion for VMware software supplemented by sound strategic and technological advice was certainly the primary catalyst for virtualizing our demanding production environment."
AccessFlow virtualizes IT infrastructures of private and public organizations of all sizes throughout California and Nevada. One of their clients, the city of Carson City, Nevada, worked with AccessFlow not only to virtualize its production data center, but also its disaster recovery environment.
"Working with the team from AccessFlow has been a great experience," said Kevin Haggerty, CIO of the city of Carson City. "They provide the strategic consulting necessary for successful virtualization then back it up with expert implementation."
"We absolutely enjoy working with virtualization technology," said AccessFlow's Kaplan. "But what really makes the business great is the opportunity to work with visionary clients such as Mike Carvalho and Kevin Haggerty among many others. These IT professionals have reaped huge rewards for their organizations by recognizing the value of virtualization and by being able to marshal the financial and political resources necessary for its successful implementation."
