SILICON VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zilog CEO Darin G. Billerbeck today announced the strengthening of his senior management team with the addition of former Freescale and Microchip senior executive Rick Bosshardt as the company's vice president of worldwide distribution sales.
Since joining Zilog as president and CEO in January 2007, Billerbeck has moved rapidly to place Zilog in a position where it can rapidly achieve top line growth in its three key business segments: secure transactions, universal remote controls and integrated embedded Flash microcontrollers. "Key to our company's success is a clear winning strategy, understanding our customers requirements and developing a strong sales and marketing management team that is focused on achieving top line growth," noted Billerbeck. "I am pleased with the caliber of our new management team and the track record that it brings to the company. The addition of Rick Bosshardt to our management team underscores our commitment to recruiting the most talented managers to deliver our strategy, meet our customer needs and deliver shareholder value."
Bosshardt comes to Zilog from Freescale Semiconductor Corporation where he served as vice president of global distribution. He profitably grew the business through the distribution channel and also produced the highest revenue growth of any of its sales channels in 2006. Prior to Freescale, he served as vice president of worldwide distribution sales for Microchip where he was instrumental in significantly improving distribution channel efficiency, synergy and results.
"Rick Bosshardt brings a wealth of experience to Zilog and he will play a key role in our efforts to develop a first class sales organization at the center of which is a continued focus on delivering innovative, differentiated and cost effective solutions to our customers," stated Mike Speckman, vice president of worldwide sales. "Rick has played a leading role in increasing sales in all of his previous roles and we firmly believe he will be equally successful here at Zilog."
A dual citizen of the United States and Switzerland, Bosshardt has a strong international track record. He served as managing director of Waferscale Integration Europe and held senior international management positions at Ramtron and Motorola. Bosshardt earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY and is fluent in three languages.
