Gold Port Resources Intercepts 39 meters of 1.74 Grams Per Tonne Gold in Hole AK-34 of an Eight Hole Drill Program

VANCOUVER, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gold Port Resources Ltd. (The "Company")(TSX-V:GPO) is pleased to report drill results from an eight hole program at the Akaiwong Project, located in Cuyuni Mining District 4, Guyana, South America. The Akaiwong Project is 100% owned by the Company and located 20 kilometers southeast of the significant gold discovery at Aurora by Guyana Goldfields (GUY.TO).

Eight holes were completed earlier this year. Hole AK-33 was a short hole of 20 meters terminated due to equipment failure. Hole AK-33A was a restart of AK-33 and was drilled at a 70 degree angle to 134 meters. Hole AK-34 was an angle hole of 70 degrees drilled to a depth of 152 meters. All other holes were short vertical holes drilled to a target depth of 100 meters. All values are reported at the end of this release.

Locating Hole AK-33A as a center point, the following hole locations are presented and subject to ground re-verification:

- AK-34 located 60 meters northwest - AK-35 located 100 meters north - AK-36 located 100 meters northeast - AK-37 located 100 meters east - AK-38 located 100 meters southeast - AK-39 located 120 meters south - AK-40 located 30 meters south east

Select intercepts from holes AK-33A, AK-33B, AK-34, AK-36, and AK-38 and AK-40 are presented here with all values reported in grams per tonne gold. All assay work was completed by ACME Laboratories of Guyana, a certified laboratory. Sample preparation was completed in Georgetown Guyana, with final assay work completed in Chile, South America. On site security was provided by the Company and supervised by Mr. Brian Sucre, Project Geologist.

Hole AK-33: 0 to 17 meters of 1.27 gpt gold (hole terminated due to mechanical failure).

Hole AK-33A: 0 to 34 meters of 0.78 gpt gold including 7 meters of 1.63 gpt gold from 10 to 16 meters; from 130 to 133 meters, 6 meters of 1.63 gpt gold; and the hole bottoming in 4 meters of 1.28 gpt gold.

Hole AK-33B: 0 to 28 meters of .947 gpt gold including 12 meters of 1.5 gpt gold; from 41 to 52 meters, 11 meters of .713 gpt gold; and from 80 to 89 meters, 10 meters of .990 gpt gold with the hole going out of the zone.

Hole AK-34: 39 meters of 1.74 gpt gold from 0 to 39 meters; and 10 meters of 0.61 gpt gold from 80 to 89 meters.

Hole AK-36: 4 meters of 1.31 gpt gold from 0 to 4 meters; 2 meters of 13.1 gpt gold from 65 to 67 meters; and 5 meters of 0.60 gpt gold from 96 to 100 meters (bottom of hole).

Hole AK-38: 12 meters of 2.02 gpt gold from 78 to 89 meters; and 5 meters of 0.91 gpt gold from 98 to 102 meters (bottom of hole).

Hole AK-40: 8 meters of 1.76 gpt gold from 46 to 53 meters.

A review of the data indicates gold is located in both the saprolite (near surface layer) and bedrock. In addition, pulps from 2 of the drill holes, AK-33B and AK-34 were screened to test for the presence of coarse native gold. The results of these tests are presented along with the traditional assay results. Native gold was found not only in the saprolite, but also in bedrock samples. For drill holes AK-33B and AK-34 both the standard fire assay values as well as values calculated with the native gold are presented. The overall assay values are increased by adding the weight of the native gold. Given the small size of the assay sample (200 grams) it is believed that more representative results could be obtained by taking a larger sample for assay.

A detailed review of the drill results suggests the major gold mineralization in this area appears to be controlled by a shear zone. Holes AK-35, AK-37, AK-38, AK-39 and AK-40 are assumed not to have penetrated the shear zone. However, all of these holes encountered some gold values outside of the known shear zone area. The best gold values are found in the holes assumed to have penetrated the shear zone.

To better define the exploration target, the Company will conduct a ground geophysical program using a Geometrics G-859 cesium magnetometer. The Company has purchased and is operating a Caterpillar D-6 bulldozer for road work and the cutting of exploration trails. An Acker MP series track mounted drill rig has been purchased by the Company and is now in Guyana. This heavy duty rig is capable of drilling to greater depths and quicker than the equipment previously used. The Company plans to complete a ground program at Akaiwong, and then begin a Phase Two drill program. The ground program will also include an evaluation of the southern area of the project. This area is the location of a previously identified EM conductor anomaly and is also the location of significant alluvial mining activity by local "porknockers ".
